Celebrated broadcaster Alex Chamwada is excited as his mentee, who doubles up as his employee, Isaya Bwabi, has graduated from the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication (KIMC).
Chamwada pays for school fees
In July 2023, Chamwada revealed that Bwabi had worked as a security guard at Chams Media for years until one day he opened up to him and said he admired what the seasoned journalist did and wanted to follow in his footsteps.
Touched by his zeal and positive attitude, Chamwada paid his college fees at KIMC and helped him join the media industry.

In an interview with TUKO.co.ke, Chamwada revealed that Bwabi graduated with a Certificate in Film and Video Production at a ceremony presided over by Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communication, and Digital Economy, Eliud Owalo.
Bwabi works as a photographer
"I'm proud of his transformation; the day he approached me for support to transit into journalism, I saw conviction in his eyes. He meant it and wanted it; I would get very positive feedback from his lecturers," said the Chams Media founder.
"I did not just sponsor him, but as a good guardian I would visit his college to make a follow up on his progress. At times teaching their class as a guest lecturer," he continued.
Bwabi is already working with Chams Media as a photographer.
A man emotional on first flight
In another story, Bwabi experienced his first plane ride, and the emotional moment caused him to shed tears of joy.
"This is a miracle; it's my first time in an aeroplane, and on the coast, I hope I will enjoy it," said Bwabi after disembarking from the plane at Malindi Airport," said Bwabi.
"I am the first in my family to board a plane," told TUKO.co.ke.
