- Lawyer Donald Kipkorir said it was wrong for President William Ruto to deny Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria a state commendation
- According to Kipkorir, the Elder of the Order of the Golden Heart of Kenya (EGH) award is usually given to CSs as a tradition and not on merit
- During the Jamhuri Day celebrations, Ruto awarded nine CSs, among them Energy CS Davis Chirchir, with EGH

Nairobi - Flamboyant lawyer Donald Kipkorir has criticised President William Ruto for snubbing Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria in the state honours award.
How CSs are awarded state honours
In a statement on Tuesday, December 12, Kipkorir questioned why Kuria was not among those given the award, yet it is a tradition for all Cabinet secretaries to receive it.

According to Kipkorir, the Elder of the Order of the Golden Heart of Kenya (E.G.H.) is given to CSs based on tradition and not as a mark of excellence.
"All Cabinet ministers get EGH by tradition. It is unfair to leave out my friend, Moses Kuria. National honours are given out like confetti. Let every minister get it, as it isn’t a mark of excellence but tradition," Kipkorir said.
How Moses Kuria reacted after missing out
As reported earlier, the EGH award is given in recognition of outstanding or distinguished services rendered to the nation in various capacities and responsibilities.
Among the people, Ruto conferred with state honours during the Jamhuri Day celebrations were nine CSs.
"In recognition of distinguished and outstanding services rendered to the nation in various capacities and responsibilities, I confer awards and honours to the following persons," Ruto said in a gazette notice.
After missing out on the award, CS Kuria sent a cryptic message about the list of those honoured by the president.
In his message, Kuria suggested he would still be there despite missing out on the list of those the head of state feted.
In a cryptic post shared on his X account, Kuria added two photos, one with the list of those awarded with Elder of the Order of the Golden Heart of Kenya (E.G.H.) and another with the names of those working in the office of the Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
"We shall be there no matter what," Kuria said.
