Former Kiambu governor Ferdinand Waititu has disclosed that he has ditched President William Ruto's United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.

Speaking during an interview at a vernacular radio station on Tuesday, December 19, the former governor, who was impeached, said he was misled to join Ruto's camp before the 2022 General Election.
"I was misled to join UDA. I had high hopes when I joined UDA, but I am grateful that I gradually discovered the party was full of dishonest people," the former county chief stated.

He accused Ruto's camp of lying to him and giving him a vague job he was eventually barred from taking up through a legal opposition.
TUKO.co.ke understands that Ruto appointed Waititu as a member of the Nairobi Rivers Commission in December 2022.
Shortly after his appointment, the Law Society of Kenya and Transparency International filed petitions opposing his appointment by the head of state.
The two organisations argued that Waititu, having been impeached over abuse of office and gross misconduct charges, lacked ethical standing for such an appointment.
Waititu barred from taking up new job
In February 2023, High Court Judge Hedwig Ongudi issued orders barring Waititu from taking up the position, pending a hearing and determination of the case by the two entities.
Waititu, however, claims that UDA, which he joined ahead of the August 2022 General Election, had a scheme to dethrone him after giving him an appointment.
"They gave me an unclear job and then used some people to take it away from me through the courts. It's akin to giving a dog and then taking it away from it," said Waititu.
Waititu blamed Mt Kenya leaders for allegedly abandoning the region's interests in the Kenya Kwanza government.
"Most of the Mt Kenya leaders are silent on challenges the region is facing for fear of being seen as traitors," Waititu said.
Waititu was impeached while serving his first term as the Governor of Kiambu county.
