Nairobi - Former Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed has been appointed to an international peace organisation.
What does the Interpeace organisation deal with?
On Wednesday, December 6, Amina was named a board member of the Interpeace Governing Board, which is the highest decision-making body for the global organisation Interpeace.

A statement by Amina Live Foundations said Amina, who served under former president Uhuru Kenyatta, was delighted about the appointment.
"We are delighted to announce that Ambassador Amina Mohamed has been unanimously admitted to the Interpeace Governing Board. Amina's extensive experience in diplomacy and development will be a valuable asset to the board as we work to promote peace and security around the world.
Ambassador Amina Mohamed brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Interpeace Governing Board. We are confident that her leadership will help us advance our mission of building lasting peace in conflict-affected regions," the foundation's statement read.
The organisation that the former CS was appointed to deals with providing solutions to address conflict in violent-prone countries.
Interpeace, which has 27 years of experience, comprises prominent individuals from the government, international, and business sectors and is currently chaired by Egypt's former Foreign Affairs Minister, Amre Moussa.
What Amina said after getting the IUEA job
As reported earlier, Amina, who previously served as the Education CS, was early this year installed as the Chancellor of the Uganda-based International University of East Africa (IUEA).
"Today IUEA installed Amina Chawahir Mohamed. We are positive that the Chancellor's leadership will be instrumental in guiding the institution towards more outstanding achievements," reads a tweet on the university's official Twitter handle.
Following her installation, Amina had a message for the students' fraternity:
"To the students, today and tomorrow belong to you. I will do my best to make sure you are equipped with the tools that will magnify and amplify your chances of success in life."
