"Hyenas are considered very important to the ecosystem by scavenging bones; they help in preventing the spread of zoonotic diseases," read the statement.
How to avoid a hyena attack
They provided Kenyans with tips on how to deal with a hyena attack in case they encountered one.
For one, they should not run since a predator's instinct is to chase animals who run away.
Two, one shouldn't lie down or pretend to be dead, since that would increase curiosity.
Third, netizens should decrease movement at night as hyenas are nocturnal.
Four, try not to show your fear and stay calm by talking to it.
Five, if the animal growls or giggles, one should stand their ground and not be scared by it.
Six, one should not move away unless the hyena is. While moving, one should face the direction of the animal.
Seven, while under attack, one should make a loud noise and look aggressive as if they are going to attack.
Kenyans hilariously reacted to one of KWS' tips with funny memes.
