Nairobi - The Kenya Defence Forces has announced a public auction event to sell cast vehicles, equipment and General stores

In an advertisement in local dailies, the KDF stated that the vehicles and general stores could be viewed from Wednesday, January 3, during working days.

"In Nairobi region (DEFOD – Kahawa, 12 Engrs – Thika, DFMH, MAB, Emb GAR and DHQ CAU), 23 OCC – Lanet, Nanyuki region (43 OCC) and Coastal Region (Kenya Navy Base Mtongwe and Mariakani GAR) starting from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm after purchasing the catalogue," read the advert in part.

KDF said the catalogues would provide full details of items to be sold may be obtained on viewing days from specific offices upon payment of a non-refundable fee of KSh 1,000 per set.

"Interested bidders will be required to pay a refundable bid number deposit of KSh 50,000.00 and KSh 30,000.00 for vehicles/equipment and stores, respectively, in cash payable to the Ministry of Defence before the last day of viewing.
Each Bid number will only be allowed to bid for one Lot ONLY. Original catalogue and receipts for both the catalogue and bid number deposits will be presented at the entrance for one to be allowed to participate in the auction,"KDF reiterated.

What rules will be observed during KDF auction

KDF stated successful bidders would be required to pay a deposit of 25% of the bid at the fall of the hammer and the remaining balance within 14 days after the auction.

Failure to which the award would be cancelled and the deposit forfeited, while unsuccessful bidders would be refunded the bid number deposits on presentation of the respective original receipts.

Successful bidders tender bid deposit would also be credited to the bid price, and after that, they would be required to top up the difference.

The winner would also have to collect their items within 30 days after making full payment.

"Failure to which they will be liable to pay storage charges at a rate of 1% of bid-offer per day up to a maximum of three months. Items not collected within the three months will be forfeited together with the monies paid against them," continued the advert.

All successful bidders must get clearance from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) before collection of the items from the sale yards.

When is the deadline for 186 ODPP jobs?

Elsewhere, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) announced various vacancies to strengthen the office's prosecutorial role.

DPP Renson Ingonga, on Tuesday, December 5, said the 186 vacancies are meant to promote the purpose and object of his office.

"Pursuant to Section 13 (2) of the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions Act No. z of 2013, the Office shall have power to appoint, control and supervise its staff in a manner and for such purposes as may be necessary for the promotion of the purpose and the object for which the Office is established. Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the under listed vacancies," Ingonga said.
