In a statement at 9.16pm, the power distributor said a suspected fault might have affected its system, occasioning the power blackout.
"We have lost electricity supply to various parts of the country due to a suspected fault affecting our system," KPLCE said.
The monopoly electricity distributor, in its routine style and fashion, apologised to Kenyans, noting that they were working to restore the power.
"We are working to restore normalcy within the shortest time possible. An update on the restoration progress will be issued in due course. We apologise to our customers for the inconvenience caused," they added.
August nationwide blackout
On August 25 this year, Kenyans were treated to an unusual Friday evening after most of the country witnessed a blackout.
A quick check by TUKO.co.ke confirmed that parts of Western Kenya, Nairobi, Coast, and Mt Kenya regions were in darkness.
Most who reported said the lights went out minutes before 10p.m. Just like any Friday, Kenyans are known to gather at various entertainment joints, and the latest development is a blow to their plans.
Taking to various social media platforms, they expressed their frustrations with the electricity provider.
Later in a statement, the monopoly electricity distributor, in its routine style and fashion, apologised while noting that it experienced a system disturbance at 9:45pm leading to the loss of bulk power supply.
