Kisumu - The curtains for the 2023 CECAFA under-18 challenge would be coming down on Friday, December 8, as the Kenyan Junior Stars face off with Uganda in the finals.
The face-off will be at the Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium which will only host 15,000 spectators, according to the organisers.

While the match would have been free, the organisers said the charges were induced to control the crowd.

The tickets would be seized on 'first come first served' basis with those missing out being offered the alternative to follow the match on big screens mounted outside the stadium.

The Kenyan Junior Stars team has had a magnificent run since the start of the tournament on November 25.

The team routed Tanzania in the semi-final on December 5 after prevailing in the penalty shootout play that succeeded a barren draw in regular and extra times.
The 4-3 win propelled the team to the finals, pitting it against Uganda, who beat Rwanda 1-0.
Rwanda and Tanzania would on Friday, December 8, face off in a Bronze curtain raiser match ahead of the finals later on the day,
All attention would be on the team as it focuses on the regional title.
In the meantime, the national government recently approved the construction of a 60,000-capacity stadium in Nairobi after Kenya was awarded co-hosting rights for the continent's august sporting event, the African Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Facilities to host oncoming AFCON
The 2027 edition of Africa’s premier football competition will be hosted by Kenya, jointly with Uganda and Tanzania, under the East Africa Pamoja banner.
In addition to AFCON 2027, Kenya was also selected to host the African Nations Championship (CHAN) in September 2024 and the AFCON Under -15 (Pan-African Schools Football) CECAFA Region Championship in December 2023.
"In a bid to elevate Kenya's standing as a sporting powerhouse, the Cabinet approved various construction and renovation projects of facilities for hosting the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2027," read a dispatch from a Cabinet meeting presided over by President William Ruto in October this year.
