A mzungu YouTuber, Yves Kino, is yet to reply to a Kibera kibandaski that charged him KSh 700 for ugali matumbo, a meal that retails for between 120 and KSh 200.

Mzungu man's surprise at kibandaski

He was surprised when they changed tune and asked him to pay KSh 1,000 for the meal.

When he inquired and asked what changed for the pricing to jump to KSh 1,000, they noted that ugali was KSh 200.

He lamented, noting that it was a bad practice to con foreigners.

"How much do I owe you? KSh 1000? Really? That is really the price you are saying? Before you told me this is KSh 200. Ugali is KSh 800? Are very serious? I will give you KSh 500 because I think it is already overpriced. KSh 200 more? The ugali does not cost KSh 500. I know you are charging me ten times for the ugali. I will wait and see if you are charging people KSh 500 for the ugali. You are cheating me. I mean it is your right but you are giving a bad image of the people. I can understand the people are poor here," he lamented.

Kibandaski offers apology

The kibandaski that is situated at Kibera offered its apology to the content creator, noting that times were tough.

They asked Yves not to take the encounter to heart and even offered him a free meal.

"It was KSh 120, but he is the type to eat at Serena hotel... Because of the economy, that is why it happened like that. You took things as if I overcharged you, but I am saying sorry if you are feeling overcharged. Don't fear. Come back before leaving Kenya. On that day.I will give you free food (sic)."

Woman conned KSh 10k from fake mzungu

In a separate con story, a Kenyan woman fell victim to a sophisticated online scam, where she was deceived by an imposter posing as a foreign boyfriend.

The scam, which involved the promise of expensive gifts and a substantial sum of money, devastated the victim.

The woman met the scammer on Facebook, where they engaged in seemingly innocent conversations.
