"I started teaching at the university as a lecturer at 23 years old, and some of my students were older than me," he said.

Meanwhile, much is said about motivational speakers, but Benjamin Bagyema's story tends to set the bar too high for his peers in that field.

The Ugandan caused tongues to wag after asserting he purchased his first tract when he was 13 years old.

His assertion seems not to convince many given that at that age, Bagyema would apparently not be having the thought to invest in such things as lands, or even proper financial skills to do what he claims.

Buying land while aged 13 years

It however turns out that he began focusing on various skills and career paths a few years after hitting 10.

The youngster then would find himself educating others on money matters.

He once said in an interview that he gets paid whenever he gets out to train his peers on financial literacy.

"I am a peer trainer for children. So basically, when I go out to teach other children on this topic, I get paid," he told NTV Uganda in 2012 when he was 11 years old.

The young man would continue building a solid foundation for his financial success even as he attended school like his peers.

Despite waking up every morning of the week to go to school, Bagyema was not satisfied with the Ugandan education system which corresponds to the ones in the other East African Community (EAC) countries.

He, therefore, majored in IT aspects such as coding and also improved his public speaking and negotiation skills.

Fast forward, he acquired the said land in 2015 using the savings from proceeds of his peer training sessions and motivational speaking gigs.

The young man in an interview with the BBC proved he was good at what he claimed.

He ran a blog, wrote a book, and even got international recognition while still a teenager.

The Doubting Thomases are however not convinced Bagyema could achieve that much at that tender age.

There are those who have however followed Bagyema and his journey and are thus not surprised by the many feats he now has to his name.

Mostly, 13-year-olds would wallow in childish stuff and escapades that would not end up being an empire of sorts.

Despite the above, there are those who started their journey to the top early, and Bagyema fitted into the clique.
