Rapper Lil Maina has revealed that he lost his Instagram account with over 100,000 followers in 2022.
Why Lil Maina lost his Instagram account
Speaking on the Sandwich Podcast, Maina disclosed that he did not expect to lose his account and narrated what transpired that day.
The rapper, who scored a B minus in his 2021 KCSE, told the podcasters he was high on that particular day and was inspired to do something 'mysterious'.

Perhaps as a result of the Miraa he was chewing, he decided to post a picture of the world's most infamous terrorist, Osama Bin Laden.
"Ilikuwa niko gat, niko kialuta. Let me tell you something about jaba kuna vitu mingi mtu hufikiria at once... so nikasema wallahi eh wacha nikuwe mysterious, nikaweka dp ya Osama bin Laden (I was high on miraa. Let me tell you something about miraa, it floods someone with many thoughts all at once...so I decided to be mysterious and posted Osama bin Laden's photo)," he recalled.
He didn't think much of it until his account was pulled down.
"Dakika kidogo hivi ikatolewa hadi nikatema gwethe. (A few minutes later, the account was down, I even spat out my miraa)" he added.
That was not the end of his troubles.
Li Maina's Fanta deal
Maina was finalising a Fanta deal with beverage company Coca-Cola at the time.
He said because of the post, the company's representatives called him and said they would not be moving ahead with the deal.
"Niko na kazi ya Fanta....wanasema wanadai....I am sorry but next time....eh iliuma. (I was working with Fanta...they called and said 'I am sorry but next time'...it really hurt)," Maina explained.
The rapper was shocked to have lost his social media page and promo deals all in one day.
Further, the Kishash hitmaker explains that he was starting and had not gained a foothold as an artiste; therefore, the Fanta deal meant a great deal to him.
After that, Maina opened a new account and disclosed that he has amassed over 163,000 followers.
Lil Maina mourns his grandfather
Earlier this year, the young rapper lost his grandfather, whom he was very close to.
Maina shared the sad news and declared his love for the man who raised him.
"I don’t know what to say, Babu. I will always have you in my heart. It is not the same without you. It will never be.”
“The best grandfather to me and everyone. I will miss you so much. Thank you for making me who I am today."
