Officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have apprehended a gang of suspects whose video, in which they were taking pride in their thuggery, went viral.

Their live video on TikTok angered Kenyans who successfully contacted the DCI officers, who immediately embarked on their hunt.
In a viable intelligence-led operation, a team of officers based at Central Police Station in Mombasa arrested the five, DCI said on Wednesday, December 6.

They are believed to be members of an organised criminal group operating within the Sargoi area and the adjoining locales.
"The five suspects namely Vincent Ochieng, Shadrack Ochieng, Felix Otieno, Salim Ali and Shafi Yusuf had earlier been captured in a video recording while displaying items that they had stolen from their victims," the DCI posted.
They were searched upon their arrest; and a navy blue jacket that had been captured in the video recording, three iPhones, a Samsung phone, a Memojo phone, and a Bluetooth headphone, among other items, were recovered from them.
Suspects who robbed Nyamira MCA, CEC arrested
This came days after the DCI rounded up a group of suspected criminals in Nyamira after robbing a county official, a local political leader and a school principal, among others.
The suspects making up a 10-man gang were positively identified by some of the recipients of their terror.
According to the police report at Keroka Police Station, a female nominated MCA, a Principal at a local high school, a CEC in Nyamira County Govt, a Kenya Prisons officer, a nurse at Nyamira County Hospital, an 80-year-old woman, a college and a high school student were terrorised by the gang.
Assorted mobile phones, over KSh 130,000 in cash and hundreds of thousands withdrawn from ATM banks belonging to the victims were recovered from the suspects.
