The Elder of the Order of the Golden Heart of Kenya award is given in recognition of outstanding or distinguished services rendered to the nation in various capacities and responsibilities.

"In recognition of distinguished and outstanding services rendered to the nation in various capacities and responsibilities, I confer awards and honours to the following persons," Ruto said in a gazette notice.

Among those who were feted are Energy CS Davis Chirchir, Education CS Ezekiel Machogu, ICT CS Eliud Owalo, and Sophia Tuya of Environment.

After missing out on the award, Public Service CS Moses Kuria has sent out a cryptic message about the list of those honoured by the president.

In his message, Kuria suggested that he would still be there despite missing out on the list of those the head of state feted.

In a cryptic post shared on his X account, Kuria added two photos, one with the list of those awarded with Elder of the Order of the Golden Heart of Kenya (E.G.H.) and another with the names of those working in the office of the Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

"We shall be there no matter what," Kuria said.

President awards Faith Kipyegon

In other news, the president recognised world record holder Faith Kipyegon in his Jamhuri Day speech.

On Tuesday, December 12, Ruto awarded Kipyegon with the Elder of the Order of the Golden Heart of Kenya (EGH) honour for her outstanding performance in athletics.

The head of state said that Kipyegon's performance, where she broke two world records, was an inspiration to the youth.

"Today, I have conferred upon our world-beating athlete Faith Kipyegon the status of Elder of the Order of the Golden Heart, the highest honour our country awards its citizens who illuminate the path of excellence.
She has earned her place at the very top from running bare feet to break two world records within a year is the ultimate state of heroism," the president said.
