Nakuru - Rose Njeri, a former teacher, has not had a peaceful rest since her demise in September following a battle with cancer and kidney failure.

On Tuesday, December 5, Njeri's grave was found open with the coffin lid removed, leaving her body partly exposed.

The residents found the casket lid dumped meters away from the grave site in her piece of land.

However, this was not the first time the family found Njeri's grave desecrated since her death on Thursday, September 14.

The family disclosed that close to two weeks ago, the body was exhumed, and they reported the case to Naishi Police Station, but no action was taken.

"We are very surprised and greatly shocked by these occurrences. As far as we can recall, it's been two months since we were here and buried our sister. Later on, we came to learn that some people had come and exhumed the grave. On that day, they came and dug again, then refilled the grave with soil. A few days later, we discovered that once again, the coffin lid was found in the forest," said a clergyman at the scene.

The preacher said it was incomprehensible what was happening to Njeri, pointing out how she suffered in life and now after her burial.

"And we wonder what is wrong with our sister. She suffered from the illness while alive, and now she seems to be suffering even in the grave. We are unable to comprehend what is happening," he added.

Who keeps desecrating Njeri's grave

The locals claimed the individuals behind the strange acts must be well-known to Njeri's family, adding that they were grateful her body was not tampered with.

"I believe the person who did this is not far from us. It's someone who knows everything that is happening. We don't know what they were repeating; we don't know what is going on. But our relief is that the body is present," said a resident.

After confirming it was her body, the residents raised funds and acquired resources to seal the grave using concrete.
