Onyango said the deceased was moved to a private funeral home in Sega town, an action that reportedly did not sit well with the locals.
He explained the residents were up in arms as they demanded to know how the man was murdered and why the police were in a rush to move the body without informing his kin.
Why did residents storm Sihayi Police Post
The administrator disclosed that the residents turned their wrath on the local Sihayi Police Post as they demanded answers on the murder.
Onyango said the residents were determined to inflict their primitive form of justice and proceeded to the home of the suspected killer, where they torched his house.
They later returned to the trading centre and set ablaze part of the drinking den.
Onyango pointed out that the angry local did not find the suspect at home since he had surrendered himself to the police and was locked up at Ukwala Police Station.
