Uasin Gishu - President William Ruto has disclosed that his presidency was a fulfilment of a Kalenjin prophecy.
Addressing a huge gathering at his Sugoi home on Friday, December 22, the head of state claimed he was part of the crop of leaders that would develop Kenya or lead it to its doom.
The head of state's sentiments were in reference to a famous Kalenjin prophecy of the Kaplelach age set, whose leadership was predicted to be monumental.

According to the prophecy, their leadership would be of two extremes that would lead to a make-or-break for the country.
Ruto expressed confidence in his leadership, pointing out he would lead the country to prosperity.
"As you all know, our age set Kaplelach was predicted to take over leadership. And for them, it will be a make-or-break moment. I am a proud Kaplelach, and I promise you that I will lead you to success," said Ruto as reported by Nation.
Kaplelach became the second last age set as they took 20 years from 1976 to 1996.
Ruto marvels over Kenya's magnificence
The president stated that it was upon Kenyans to ensure the country continues to grow to prosperity.
He pointed out some of the country's recent recognition on the world stage, questioning why some Kenyans resent the country.
"We have an amazingly beautiful country. God has blessed us with it. It has hardworking people, a favourable climate, and worldwide respect. Recently, the World Bank stated that Kenya is the third-highest recipient of diaspora remittances globally.
It is said to be the most attractive tourist destination in our African continent. I wonder about those who harbour resentment towards Kenya. We have a great country; God has given us a great country. It is our responsibility to make it greater not to destroy it. This is our homeland," Ruto added.
What did William Ruto say about the economy?
Despite the grim picture, Ruto insisted Kenya's economy was stable and on an upward trajectory.
He defended the raft of taxes introduced under the Finance Act 2023, noting that they helped Kenya get out of a huge debt hole.
"I can now confirm that Kenya is safely out of the danger of debt distress and that our economy is on a stable footing. Inflation is at 6.8%, down from 9.2% last year," Ruto said during the 60th Jamhuri Day celebrations.
