Nairobi - President William Ruto has hilariously told delegates attending the Africa Climate Summit at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre to be wary of lions that may have escaped from the Nairobi National Park.
Following his appearance on the KICC stage to deliver the opening keynote address of the Summit, the president began by eloquently praising the charm and captivating aspects of Kenya's capital city.

"We keep the wildlife in the park because we have a fence but sometimes, as nature would be, they break away from the fence, so, while you are doing your morning walk, you might encounter a lion. Please be careful as it is untamed. It is wild," he said as the audience broke into hearty waves of laughter.
The head of state also cited Nairobi as the cradle of mankind.
"Scientists, including myself discovered and located the earliest remains of man on earth. In other words, this is where humanity began. And therefore, allow me to welcome you home. In a few months, we are having conversations as Kenyans, we are seriously considering abolishing any visa requirement as it is unfair to ask anybody coming home for visa," he said as the delegates celebrated his announcement with a round of applause.
What is the significance of Africa Climate Summit?
As the climate summit went on at the KICC, Narok senator Ledama Olekina downplayed its significance.
In a series of tweets on Monday, September 4, Olekina said it was hypocritical for summit organisers to advocate for climate change when they allow helicopters to hoover around the venue.
"Hypocrisy of the highest order! We are here talking about climate change, and up above the main hall, a helicopter, which is responsible for a significant part of the carbon footprint in the world, is hovering over," Olekina said.
