In a heartwarming response to a humble plea by Edward Fundi Wa-Sie, the Embu County Government has stepped forward to aid a young couple who welcomed quadruplets last year.

Two of quadruplets have developmental challenges

The couple's story caught the attention of local authorities and social media users in 2021, resulting in communal support that touched the hearts of many.

The young couple, residents of Kagumori Village in Manyatta Constituency, Embu County, has faced numerous challenges since the arrival of their four blessings in November 2021.

The couple, identified as Ann Mugai and her husband, have been tirelessly caring for their quadruplets, who bring immense joy and love to their household.

However, two babies have encountered mobility challenges since birth - a boy and a girl who have yet to take their first steps.

Both babies are currently undergoing weekly therapy sessions every Tuesday at Embu Level 5 Hospital to improve their mobility to ensure they reach their developmental milestones.

What challenges has the family been facing

The family has been burdened with the financial strain of medical costs, including necessary supplements and medicine, and the expenses for the weekly journeys to the hospital.

"Two of them have not walked yet, a boy and a girl. They are on weekly therapy every Tuesday at Embu Level 5 Hospital. The girl is improving, she's trying to stand but the boys' progress is slower but promising," Wrote Edward.
"The process is expensive because they require calcium supplements, medicine, plus the weekly journey to hospital is financially draining," he added.

To add to the challenge, someone must stay home to care for the other two babies while the mother attends the therapy sessions.

Edward Fundi Wa-Sie's heartfelt request for support resonated with the community, leading to an outpouring of goodwill.

County gov't comes to their aid

Moved by the young family's circumstances, the Embu County Government took action to alleviate their difficulties.

Ann, who is a mother of five, was overjoyed to receive not only financial aid but also essential baby items and food supplies from the government.

Ann's plight came to the attention of Hon. Cecily Mbarire MGH, the Embu Governor, who expressed her admiration for the young couple's dedication to raising their quadruplets amid challenges.

In a statement, Hon. Cecily Mbarire MGH commended the couple for their diligent efforts and resilience, emphasizing the importance of community support in times of need.

"A team of my staff led by Chief Officers Bancy Mutua(Gender, Culture, Children and Social Services) and Jane Karimi (Medical Services) visited on my behalf to extend support to the family of Ann Mugai at Kagumori village Gaturi South," she wrote.

Further speaking to TUKO.co.ke, the mother of five was more than grateful for the generosity shown by the county government and expressed special gratitude to the governor.

Woman who was expecting three babies gives birth to quadruplets

In another story, a woman hailing from Mumias was happy to have welcomed a set of children following a successful delivery via the caesarian section.

Thirty-three-year-old Mildred Oranga delivered female quadruplets at St Mary's Hospital, where she was rushed after developing pains.

Oranga will now be a mother of six as the new set of newborns adds to the other existing two, K24 reported.

She said she had not anticipated delivering four children, as the ultra-sound she had undertaken during gestation showed she would give birth to triplets.
