Uasin Gishu - Trans Nzoia governor George Natembeya is the winner of this year's devolution conference marathon.
Natembeya beat his colleagues to win the marathon at the Kipchoge Keino stadium in Eldoret town.
"Winning is ingrained in the identity of us, the people of Trans Nzoia. The dust has not even settled after celebrating our victory in the recently concluded secondary school games held in Kakamega," said Natembeya.
Taking to his official Twitter handle, Natembeya went on:

"Today, once again, I had the honor of representing my county in a marathon organised by the Council of Governors in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County, and secured the top spot. I am still celebrating because leading the marathon in the City of Champions is a remarkable achievement. Congratulations to the other Governors for their commendable efforts. You really tried!"
St Antony's Boys Kitale big win
In a related story, TUKO.co.ke reported that after qualifying for the football finals in the Term Two National Games, St Antony's Boys Kitale received a special phone call from Natembeya.
St Antony's Boys Kitale from Trans Nzoia county qualified for the finals after trouncing Shanderema Secondary School 1-0 in a mouth-watering match played at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega town.
Why Natembeya lauded St Antony's Boys Kitale
Following the win, Natembeya called the team players lauding them for making the county proud even as he encouraged them ahead of their final match in the tournament.
St Antony's emerged winners in the games after defeating Dagoretti during the finals played on Saturday, August 12.
"Tunataka mabao kwanza ile ya haraka haraka ya mwanzo. Unajua ukishinda timu ambayo inacheza kwao nyumbani hiyo ndio championship. (We need early and fast goals. You know when you defeat the home team that's being a champion,)" Natembeya said.
In a video shared on his official Twitter handle, the county boss went on:
"If you defeat them I will be with you tomorrow. You know when I come there are goodies, right? For every goal, there is a gift. We are together in this," Natembeya further said.
