Kakamega- A Kakamega woman who was running away from local administrators who wanted to apprehend her for brewing chang'aa.
Thirty-five-year-old Hellen Kadogo decided to run for her life after the area chief's crackdown on chang'aa brewers in the area.
While running away, she plunged into River Yala and drowned as the local administrators and locals watched in horror, NTV reported.
The river's raging waters swept her away, and she was not seen again.

"When she saw the administrators, she said she was scared of being arrested and that she did not have any money to offer them. She decided to run away," a village elder said.
"I heard her wonder what she could do after she heard about the crackdown. That is, she fell into the river while running away," another woman said.
The residents have since accused the area chief of continued harassment of the residents.
