According to the paper, the children aged six, seven and eight were playing in their residential flat when the incident happened. They include two girls and a boy.
The girls were the first to be electrocuted and burnt after touching the cables, while their cousin, a boy, witnessed the burns and rushed to rescue, not caring about his safety.
Police said he was also burnt as neighbours rushed to rescue the children and took them to hospital. Police say they are investigating the incident.
The investigating officers called on the Kenya Power officials to join the probe to address the issue.

The Swahili paper reported that the court deciding cases related to HIV and AIDS ordered a man to pay the complainant KSh 850,000 for disclosing his HIV status through the WhatsApp platform.
The court stated that the actions of the man identified as FO in the case documents led to stigmatisation against the complainant, Mr PMM.
The court, presided over by Chairperson Carolyne Mboku, also directed FO to pay PMM compensation of KSh 3,000 as counselling expenses.
Mboku also issued an order restraining him from disclosing PMM's HIV status, discriminating against him, stigmatising him, and harassing him.
The court, whose other members include Prof WG Jaoko, NW Osiemo, BO Yogo, JN Ngoiri, and Dr S Musani, stated that FO's actions violated the HIV Prevention and Control Act (HAPCA).
It further stated that it was an offence for FO to disclose PMM's HIV status to other WhatsApp group members, whether true or assumed.
It was revealed that PMM's testimony about his HIV status reached his wife, who left their marital bed and started sleeping in a different room. Additionally, people in his church avoided sitting close to him.
"Taking into consideration the complainant's testimony and the supporting evidence, it is evident that the complainant was discriminated against and subjected to stigma," the Court stated.

The daily reported President William Ruto's United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party's secretary general Cleophas Malala said the plan for a mega party to contest the 2027 General Election is still on.
Malala said that of the 13 parties in the Kenya Kwanza Alliance that UDA approached for the mega-party deal, seven had already agreed to merge.
Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi's Amani National Congress (ANC), National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang'ula's Ford Kenya, his Senate counterpart Amason Kingi's Pamoja African Alliance (PAA), Attorney-General Justin Muturi's Democratic Party, Laikipia East MP Mwangi Kiunjuri's The Service Party, former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo's Tujibebe Wakenya Party, Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua's Maendeleo Chap Chap (MCC) and Mandera Senator Ali Roba's United Democratic Movement are some of the parties in Kenya Kwanza.
Others are Communist Party of Kenya, former Principal Secretary Irungu Nyakera's Farmers Party, Devolution Party of Kenya, Economic Freedom Party, Umoja na Maendeleo Party National Agenda Party of Kenya, Grand Dream Development Party, Ugenya MP David Ochieng's Movement for Democracy and Growth (MDG) and former Bomet governor Isaac Ruto's Chama Cha Mashinani.
"I have not been slow so far. Out of 13 parties, seven have already agreed to join. We are left with six, but they have not officially folded because they have to hold their National Delegates Conference (NDC) and follow the procedures laid out in the Basic Political Act," Malala said.
The former Kakamega senator stressed the importance of ensuring that the decision to merge does not appear to have been forced on the parties involved.
5. The Standard
According to the publication, a couple separated for over seven years is battling in court over the right to bury their daughter, whose body has been lying in the mortuary since June 2023.
Rose Ndeti moved to the High Court in Nakuru to appeal a magistrate court’s decision that barred her from burying her daughter.
Ndeti, in her appeal before Justice Heston Nyaga, wants to be granted permission to bury her daughter Race Owelwa per the Akamba customary law.
Ndeti claimed she has been caring for Owelwa alone after her ex-husband Andrew Mariati abandoned them seven years ago.
She said the two lived separately, and she had physical custody, care, and control of their daughter since childhood.
However, after Owelwa died, Ndeti said Mariati moved to a court in Nakuru and successfully obtained orders stopping her from burying Owelwa.
She alleged Mariati, in his application dated Friday, July 7, 2023, sought a permanent injunction barring her and her family members from participating in or interfering with Owelwa’s burial plans.
In response, Mariati said Ndeti’s appeal is founded on falsehoods and misrepresentations of facts.
He said he had single-handedly taken care of their daughter Owelwa and paid her hospital bill and mortuary fees.
According to Mariati, Ndeti, who has no place of her own, wants to bury Owelwa in her parents’ home in Machakos.
Mariati insists that despite Ndeti having had Owelwa’s physical custody, he provided everything for his daughter.
