What does David Sankok own?
David Sankok's mansion
Sankok has, on several occasions, flaunted his palatial mansion in Ewaso Ngiro on social media.
The two-storey house reveals that the vocal legislature spared no coin to make a masterpiece mansion for his family.
It's neatly paved and exquisitely faceted with a rainbow of paints. Standing out among the colours is his favourite colour, green.
Sankok envisaged the mansion would be his retirement home once he quits politics.
Inside David Sankok's ranch
Coming from the Maa community, with a rich culture, Sankok owns an expansive 500-acre ranch where he keeps livestock.
At the farm in Melili ward, Narok county, he keeps different breeds of cattle, including Zebu, Borana, and Sahiwal beef cattle. For milk production, he keeps Friesian and Ayrshire cows. He also has Dorper sheep and goats.
He recalled herding cows in his early life and eating their products.
“The first food I tasted as a child was cow fat, which I ate for two years before I was weaned to diluted cow milk as set by the Maasai culture,” he said.
To maximise profits, he buys cattle during the dry season at throwaway prices and then fattens them before selling them.
He practises free-range grazing to minimise costs.
“If I do zero grazing, I will have to hire tractors to harvest and carry the hay for storage, which is expensive. There is also a lot of wastage during harvesting,” he explained, as quoted by Who Owns Kenya.
At his farm, he also farms maize, keeps bees and rears chicken.
David Sankok's Osim Country Lodge
Sankok is also the proprietor of Osim Country Lodge in Narok, which has a lover's nest where couples can enjoy life away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
In July, he came under fire from Kenyans over his marketing strategy for the resort.
He said the nest was meant to ensure men had "value" for their money as there was no escape route for women.
He said the ladder to the nest would be removed during the night to ensure the couple has a steamy night while enjoying nature.
This left him under heavy criticism.
Nicholas Biwott's business empire
In other news, Nicholas Biwott was one of the most powerful Cabinet members during the KANU regime under the late retired president Daniel Arap Moi.
Before he died in 2017, he was ranked among the richest Kenyans with investments across diverse sectors.
His business empire began in 1969 when he acquired the Eldoret Town International Harvester (IH) at 29.
Biwott was one of the largest shareholders of the oil marketing company Kenol-Kobil, which was purchased by Rubis Energy in 2019, as announced by the Competition Authority of Kenya.
On Monday, August 7, TUKO.co.ke reported Biwott's family sold the iconic Yaya Centre shopping mall, Yaya Apartments and Hotel to the Kantaria consortium.
