- Mike Sonko would not allow certain tweeps to condemn to death yet he is still alive and kicking
- This was after a Twitter user responding to another's tweet suggested that the former Nairobi governor was dead after referring to him as "the late"
- Sonko jumped on the duo's thread to correct them, stating that he is still keeping well and breathing

Nairobi - Former governor Mike Sonko was amused by a Twitter user who appeared to suggest that he is dead.
Sonko 'the late'
The netizen by the name Ja Loka was comparing Governor Johnson Sakaja's leadership with that of Sonko when he referred to the latter as the 'late'.
Another Twitter user had pointed out Sakaja's supposed complacency, and that is when Ja Loka jumped in with his tweet in which he made the gaffe, remaining a mystery whether he did it deliberately or not.

"I think the only work that Sakaja is doing is writing all over that no lazima iWork, while sewage waste is flowing all over Nairobi, lets start with river Nairobi itself," said the first tweep.
Responding to the tweet, Ja Loka said;
"Sakaja's achievements are known: Combing his beards, teaching hustlers how to belt up as they drive their fuel guzzlers, and doing whistling challenges on TikTok with drug peddlers. Just another Gideon Kioko Mbuvi (the late) who tucks in his shirt."
Noting he was being 'killed' yet he is alive, Sonko came out to clarify that he is alive and kicking.
"Ati the late. Someone tell this guy that I am still alive and kicking."
Sonko's escape from prison and 'death'
In early 2021, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) launched investigations into circumstances under which the former governor allegedly escaped from Shimo La Tewa Prison over 20 years ago.
At the centre of the controversy was a death certificate bearing Sonko's name which raised questions about how he managed to "fake his death" while at the correctional facility.
The death certificate indicates that Kioko Gidion Mbuvi succumbed to cardiopulmonary arrest.
Sonko had been jailed at Shimo La Tewa for 12 months after being convicted in 1998.
In 2012, he changed his name from Mbuvi Gideon Kioko to Mbuvi Kioko Gidion Mike Sonko.
Then DCI boss George Kinoti said his office was yet to launch investigations into Sonko's alleged involvement in the ODM chaos witnessed after the 2017 General Election.
Sonko confessed to being the mobiliser in Nairobi and dragged into the claim name of former Interior PS Karanja Kibicho.
