Kwale - Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has explained that Kenya does not need mediators because it is not in an international crisis.

Mudavadi asserted that there is no power vacuum in the country since President Ruto was duly elected and sworn in.

"Kenya is not in a state of international crisis. There is no need to call in former presidents to mediate on issues that can be resolved locally. Kenya has not reached the point where it requires foreign mediation," Mudavadi said.

He rejected involving an international mediator to facilitate discussions between Ruto and Azimio leader Raila Odinga.

William Ruto was legally elected

The Prime Cabinet Secretary emphasised Ruto holds full legal and constitutional authority over the country's leadership.

"The transition of power from President Ruto's predecessor to him was conducted in accordance with the constitution. In broad daylight, he was handed the sword as the Commander-in-Chief," he said.

He further accused the opposition of seeking international sympathy, pointing out that neighbouring countries have faced more severe political turmoil than Kenya's current situation.

Mudavadi expressed regret that, even a year after the elections, the opposition still refuses to accept the reality of the situation.

First anniversary

Mudavadi expressed regret that, even a year after the elections, the opposition still refuses to accept the reality of the situation.

His remarks were made during an interdenominational thanksgiving and prayer service at Kwale's Ukunda grounds, where he accompanied the President on the fourth day of his Coastal regional tour.

Additionally, Mudavadi defended the Kenya Kwanza Government, which is approaching its first anniversary in power.

He stated that their focus is on addressing key issues and will not entertain distractions or side issues.

Kimani Ichungwah asks William Ruto to meet Raila Odinga

Majority leader Kimani Ichung'wah softened his stand on President William Ruto engaging with Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party leader Raila Odinga.

The National Assembly Majority Leader observed that having one-on-one negotiations is good, praising Ruto for asking Raila to meet him at the negotiating table.

Ichung'wah was critical of Raila's demand for a mediator when he met with the president, stating that there was no need for a mediator when discussing Kenyan issues.
