Gorgeous politician Sharlet Mariam Akinyi has announced that hackers have taken over her Twitter and Facebook pages.
Posts attacking Kwale County Assembly
The hackers took control of the pages on Saturday, August 26, and used them to spread what she termed "malicious and shameful allegations" about the Kwale County Assembly and the devolved unit's representatives.
Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, the former Msambweni parliamentary seat aspirant condemned and distanced herself from the unprintable claims.

"Yes, my Facebook and Twitter accounts have been hacked. I suspect it is someone from the Kwale County Assembly who wants to taint my otherwise good reputation. There is no way someone from nowhere would gain access to my accounts and specifically attack the assembly," said Mariam.
The ex-Nairobi governor Mike Sonko's former personal assistant, in turn, asked her followers to ignore the posts shared on the aforementioned platforms.
She said she was engaging relevant authorities to regain the pages.
"I urge my followers to ignore the posts as I engage relevant authorities to solve the matter. I will also be seeking to find the person responsible so that he/she can be brought to book," she added.
How e-Citizen was hacked
In other news, the e-Citizen platform was hacked barely a month after the government onboarded over 5,000 services, ICT Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo confirmed.
Owalo said it is an inevitable trend in the changing technological world, adding that cyber-attacks are predominant globally.
The CS assured that no data was accessed, reiterating that the government will continue with its digital plan despite such risks.
"That is not strange to me because cyber attack is predominant the world over. We cannot stop digitising our records and services because we are risk averse," said Owalo during an interview with a local radio station, Spice FM on Thursday, July 27.
Owalo noted that the government was setting up an elaborate risk mitigation framework to deal with the attack and related risks in the future.
