Sheryl spoke fondly of her mother when asked about her during an interview with Brian Mutinda, popularly known as Commentator254.
"First of all, she is the reason I am the strong lady I am today. My mum has passed through a lot because starting a new life after my family broke apart was difficult. Starting a fresh life in Bomet was a struggle because my mum did not have a job or source of income.
So she started working as a household in people's houses to provide for us and sell second-hand clothes. Seeing her struggle to raise us, take care of us and educate us has made me see one can be a successful single mum," the single mother of one said.
Sheryl's relationship with mum
She said her mum's struggles and success inspired her as a single mother, too, as she had a reference point to draw strength from.
"My mum and I are besties. I tell her everything, including who I am dating. Whoever I date must meet my mum so that she can assess the person and tell me whether I am in trouble or in good hands," she said laughingly.
Raising daughter with disability in Naivasha
In another story, a Naivasha single mum narrated her struggles to raise an intellectually disabled daughter.
Mercy Waithera's daughter Monica started falling as a young girl, affecting her brain.
Because of the impact, the 26-year-old mother of one developed complications and started losing her memory, forgetting things, like the husband of a Meru woman who lost his memory after the wedding.
Her mother, 40, said her daughter could not cook or breastfeed because she was intellectually disabled.
