A man in Siaya has shared photos of a four-bedroom house with a magnificent roof that got the attention of many people.
Samwel Oyule said the roof design cost over KSh 1.14 million, breaking down the cost of materials used.
Cost of house roofing in Kenya
He described the design as a flower weatherboard roofing with 38 degrees angulation.

"For timber, including fascia board, we used KSh 385,000, nails (4 inches, 3 inches and 2 inches) Ksh 24,000 and 800 pieces of Decra mabati at KSh 900 per piece," Oyule explained in an exclusive interview with TUKO.co.ke.
According to Estate Centre, the cost of roofing in Kenya per square metre is KSh 500 to KSh 3,500, depending on the design and type of roofing materials used.
This is the cost of materials, roofing accessories such as timber, metal bars, nails, and insulation, excluding labour.
Oyule revealed that the roofing labour cost for the four-bedroom house was about KSh 180,000.
"The walls were built by machine-cut stones - 2,700 pieces (KSh 80 per piece), with a remainder of around 100 pieces. The house cost to this level is roughly around KSh 2.29 million," he added.
Social media reactions
The post sparked debate among the Facebook group Dream House and Building Forum, with some commending the roofing.

Kenyans break down cost of house design
In a related story, TUKO.co.ke reported that Kenyans took to social media to analyse the cost of standard design work conducted by qualified architects.
Responding to a post on Facebook, they broke down the cost of a house design to a maximum of KSh 300,000.
Adrian Gachewa - a graduate architect - revealed that a good design cost up to 6% of the construction cost and depends on the house size.
