The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party has made changes to its leadership in the Nairobi County Assembly.

The changes followed the move by the disgruntled Nairobi UDA MCAs, who ousted the Minority Leader and Minority Whip for allegedly undermining the party and its members.

During a press briefing on Thursday, October 19, the aforementioned ward representatives announced they had collected 35 signatures to throw out Anthony Karanja Kiragu and Mark Mugambi from their positions.

"We have been patient with Hon. Anthony Karanja Kiragu, the Leader of Minority and Hon. Mark Mugambi, the Minority Chief Whip for far too long, but now we must let them go for the benefit our party and members. Enough is enough," they said.

What UDA Nairobi County Assembly leaders did

As earlier reported, the UDA MCAs claimed that Kiragu and Mugambi had failed numerous times to live up to the ruling party's expectations.

The MCAs accused the two leaders of undermining women leaders in the party, especially those who serve in the Party Assembly leadership positions.

They also claimed that Kiragu and Mugambi were selfish when allocating benefits and opportunities meant for members and the people of Nairobi by the party.

According to the UDA lawmakers, the two had failed to offer direction and leadership to party members on critical legislative matters, adding that members were disillusioned and disgruntled.

"They have been championing their personal interests to the exclusion of the rest of us as follows," the MCAs added.
