Uasin Gishu- President William Ruto has warned Uasin Gishu leaders embroiled in the Finland scholarship scam to return the money they defrauded the parents and students.
Coming at the back of disquiet in Uasin Gishu due to the scam in which Senator Jackson Mandago is among those implicated, Ruto said those who embezzled money belonging to the students should take accountability.
Speaking in Eldoret on Wednesday, August 16, the president said that when investigations are done, those found guilty of squandering the money will also face the consequences.
"Investigations are ongoing. Whoever squandered this money should be ready to return it. Nobody should be cajoled; everyone must get their money back. After investigations are done, I will see how we can help those students affected by this.

Those who swindled the cash should be held accountable," he said.
Jackson Mandago arrested
This came amidst the arrest of Senator Jackson Mandago in Eldoret town over the controversial Finland and Canada scholarship programme.
The arrest comes a few hours after a Nakuru court issued an arrest warrant against Mandago and three other officials.
The former Uasin Gishu governor was arrested at his residence and carted off to Nakuru's Directorate of Criminal Investigations regional office.
After failing to appear for a plea taking, the court issued the warrant for the outspoken Uasin Gishu senator.
Mercy Tarus confronts Uasin Gishu leaders over the scam
Amidst this scam, one affected student, identified as Mercy Tarus gained internet fame after she boldly confronted leaders from the county accused of stealing the money.
Governor Jonathan Bii and Senator Mandago availed themselves to face the wrath of parents and prospective students who committed themselves to the programs that have remained an illusion.
Knowing that she had to utilise the brief time allocated to her, the Kabarak University alumnae took on the leaders, fiercely faulting them for taking their subjects for a ride.
"First of all, you call us and our parents for a meeting. You set the meeting at 9:00am, at what time did you arrive? Probably you don't expect me to ask you the question, but these are people who elected you to serve them, I may seem foolish due to my age, but my grandfather has not eaten, and others are sick," she lamented to the leaders.
