"I am helping people to convert the 25WLD coins to Kenya shillings. The Worldcoin team helps you download the app, scan your eyes and give you 25 free coins in the app. This is where I come in, people don't know how to convert, and I help them depending on the crypto rates.
"Cryptocurrency is volatile. It goes up and down. Like today, most people were buying between KSh 250 per coin to KSh 270," said Wangare.
Wangare said she convert the coins at the rate of KSh 270, giving the owners KSh 6,750 for the 25WLD coins.
She explained that once your application is updated, you can transfer the coins to the crypto exchange and convert them to Kenya shillings.
"I am a crypto trader, and I found a niche to make money out of Worldcoin free gift. I am buying at KSh 270 for one coin and giving the client KSh 6,750... I am making a profit out of it.
Thousands of Kenyans trooped to the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) for the scanning excise.
Worldoin consultant Wangeci Mwangi said more than 350,000 Kenyans signed up for the free crypto coins as of Tuesday, August 1, Citizen Digital wrote.
Government raise security issues over Worldcoin
This means the majority of them were yet to convert their coins, even as security officers stopped the excise.
The police locked out people from access KICC and the Worldcoin team to secure a bigger venue, citing security concerns.
Earlier, the government warned Kenyans against the craze that collects their biometric data.
The Office of the Data Protection Commissioner called on Kenyans to observe vigilance while allowing their data into the Worldcoin database.
The agency responsible for data protection was concerned that Kenyans were submitting their biometrics to Worldcoin without knowledge.
The commission said it is engaging Worldcoin to ascertain its compliance with the country's Data Protection Act 2019.
Cybersecurity expert Allan Lwala warned that the Worldcoin craze might breach personal privacy.
"It is a privacy nightmare waiting to happen. A lot can be done with your biometric data. Also, just like any cryptocurrency, it's a bubble that thrives on word of mouth. We stop talking about it; it pops!" argued Lwala, in an exclusive interview with TUKO.co.ke.
