A Kampala court has sentenced Musa Musaasizi, aged 25, to 105 years in jail over the murder of three women and a minor.
On Wednesday, December 13, High Court Judge Margaret Mutonyi sentenced Musaasizi after he pleaded guilty to killing the three women and a three-month-old boy in 2021.
Why Justice Mutonyi arrived at the 105-year sentence
While delivering her judgement, Justice Mutonyi said the act of killing and burning the bodies of women was unspeakable and alarmed the country.

“The act of murdering and burning women cannot be treated kindly by this court. There can never be a reason to kill another, and it shows a perverted mind. He knew exactly what he was doing. He never wanted the bodies to be identified, but to be treated as unidentified people. The baby didn’t have a head, and other parts shows he intended to kill the deceased person,” Mutonyi said, Daily Monitor reported.
The judge justified the lengthy sentence, arguing that the way and timing of the murder deserved severe punishment.
"The deceased were all his lovers, apart from the baby. The ways and times of murdering the deceased were the same. He killed them with bare hands, as he said in his statement. This kind of act calls for a severe sentence because this has become his habit of killing,” the judge said.
The judge ordered that Musaasizi serve 35 years' imprisonment for the murder of a woman and her child, 30 years for the murder of another woman, and 40 years for the murder of another woman.
After he was arrested in 2021, Musaasizi pleaded guilty to the murder charges, claiming he killed one of the victims after suspecting she had another boyfriend.
Why Uasisn Gishu man killed his girlfriend
Elsewhere, Uasin Gishu man who killed his one-time girlfriend in Moi's Bridge was handed 45 years in jail.
This came days after the High Court in Eldoret found the man guilty after the evidence adduced in court rightly implicated him; the convict is a 40-year-old named Mustafa Idd.
In his verdict on November 2, Justice Reuben Nyakundi, the presiding judge of the court, ruled that Mustafa had a case to answer.
He killed Emma Wanyotta in September 2019, then a 21-year-old finalist student at Eldoret's Vera Beauty College.
While sentencing Mustafa later on November 28, Nyakundi said the court was convinced that the man hacked Wanyotta into pieces before distributing the body parts in a napier grass farm and an animal shed adjacent to the latter's home, Daily Nation reported.
