Tanzanian superstar Diamond Platnumz’s mother, Mama Dangote, has disclosed that she was blasted for helping him pursue his music career.
Mama Dangote's role in Diamond's success
In an Instagram post, Mama Dangote, who recently celebrated Diamond and his son Naseeb Junior's shared birthday, discloses that she was his biggest cheerleader when he was starting.
She said she recognised Diamond's passion for music and did everything she could to help him pursue his dreams.

However, the star's mother reveals that not everyone was pleased with her decision.
She says she was criticised and ridiculed for encouraging her son's career and was accused of making him a hooligan.
She did not let that stop her, though. Mama Dangote said she always accompanied him to places where he could showcase his talent and get exposure.
"Nilikuwa naambiwa nawafundisha uhuni juu yakuwa alikuwa anapenda sana mziki na mimi ndio nilikuwa namba moja kumpeleka sehemu yoyote wanao saka vipaji sijali ata kukesha mpaka hasubuhi ili mradi mwanangu apate nafasi nae aimbe tu.
(I was told that I was teaching him hooliganism because he loved music so much and I was the number one to take him anywhere looking for talents. I didn't mind staying up until morning as long as my child got a chance to sing)," she said.
Mama Danote's advice to parents
Subsequently, the mother of three urged parents to nurture their kids' talents, adding that they did not know what those children might become.
"Wazazi wenzangu nawasihi sana kama mtoto wako anakipaji chochote naomba muendeleze .. Nakama mimi ningekuwa nasikiliza maneno ya watu leo hii Mwanangu Naseeb kwasasa anafahamika @diamondplatnumz kipaji chake kingepotea bure.
(My fellow parents I beseech you if your child has any talent please nurture it. If I had listened to people's words, today my son Naseeb who is now known as @diamondplatnumz his talent would have been lost for nothing)," she added.
Showing off her spacious and luxurious home, she encouraged them to block out critiques, explaining that she would not be living so affluently had she not backed Diamond.
"Kuimba sio uhuni ni kazi kama kazi nyingine waacheni watu wafanye au waonyeshe vipaji vyao vina manufaa kwao na kwetu wazazi haya mm ningewasikiliza jee .. Leo hii Sandrah Navaa saa ya dhahabu nijambo lakumshkuru M/Mungu. Asante sana Mwanangu Naseeb.
(Singing is not hooliganism, it is a job like any other job. Let people do or show their talents, they are beneficial to them and to us parents. What if I had listened to them?... Today Sandrah I am wearing a golden watch, it is something to thank God for. Thank you so much, my son Naseeb)," she concluded.
