Uasin Gishu - National Assembly Deputy Speaker Gladys Shollei has promised to have the Judiciary on the same page with the Executive.

During a church service on Sunday, January 7, at AIC Sugutek in Soy Constituency, the woman representative promised President William Ruto she'd start working on the issue.

Shollei expressed her reservation on what she'd do but promised Ruto she would deal with what she perceived as the Judiciary's 'ignorance'.

Seeking the head of state's confidence, Shollei reminded Ruto that she's never failed him, adding that his policies would pass seamlessly.

"I shall begin to work on it. It will never happen again. I will not tell you what we'll do with them, but we shall deal with the ignorance of the Judiciary. I have never failed you, and I will not fail you on this one. So take heart that it shall be done, and your policies shall pass," she said.

Why is Ruto frustrated with Judiciary?

On Wednesday, January 3, Ruto expressed frustration with the Judiciary for trying to stop his key projects, alleging corruption and deliberate obstruction of his development plans.

Speaking at a funeral in Nyandarua county, the head of state accused the beneficiaries of corruption of collaborating with corrupt judicial officers to obstruct development in Kenya.

This accusation came after the court temporarily suspended Universal Health Care and affordable housing projects.

He further directed the Executive to disregard any orders that hinder the country's development agenda.

Omtatah dares Ruto

Following the president's remarks, Busia senator Okiya Omtatah Okoiti challenged Ruto to provide evidence for his allegations of corruption within the Judiciary.

Omtatah stated that Ruto’s claims threatened judicial independence and undermined the rule of law.

The senator called on the president to apologise to the Judiciary and seek forgiveness from Kenyans who have challenged his projects in court.
