A photo doing rounds on social media has shown an unorthodox mansion in Kenya.
Why did mansion’s roof spark debate?
The Facebook image depicted the two-storey mansion nearing completion at an undisclosed location. The house cost the owner over KSh 10 million, given its size and the building stone quality.
The front featured a metallic partition with patterns made by a laser engraving machine, and the same was used for the balcony upstairs.

The majestic home featured a chimney, indicating that it had a fireplace. A Toyota Ractis with Kenyan license plates was parked outside, and two people were seen walking around the compound.
However, the roof was the most eye-catching feature. It dramatically jutted out exaggeratedly, splitting Kenyans’ opinions. Some said it was the latest construction style, but others opined that villagers could misconstrue the design.
Below are some of the reactions:
Wairimu Kimani:
“It reminds me of the Stegosaurus dinosaur. A project I did with kids a long time ago.”
Charles Gacheru:
“You will start hearing preachers saying the peaks have a satanic meaning.”
Stevocz Moor:
“Paint it black, and you live in peace.”
Dun Tumbo:
“Not a style I would consider, but it looks stylish.”
Nan Cy:
“I don’t think anyone would set foot in your compound.”
Gabriel Mwau:
“This is a new roof design for those who don't know!”
Antony Njoroge:
“People should get used to change.”
Mil Cheb C:
“I would be afraid of living in the house.”
