According to the Kakamega senator, the Foreign Affairs PS should continue publicly correcting government officials who make unofficial diplomatic statements.
"Twice in as many weeks, Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Dr Korir Singoei has come out boldly and professionally to correct the goofy, undiplomatic remarks by the Speaker of the Senate, Hon Amason Kingi and CS Kipchumba Murkomen on Somaliland and Rwanda respectively. Well done and keep it up, my brother," Khalwale said
PS Singoei dismisses Murkomen's remarks about Rwanda
Sentiments by Khalwale come after the Foreign Affairs PS moved to underscore the good bilateral relations between Kenya and Kigali following Murkomen's emotive sentiments.
Murkomen, while appearing for an interview on Citizen TV, sought to explain the state of the current Kenyan infrastructural setup and democracy in juxtaposition with the President Paul Kagame-led nation.
In his argument, Murkomen suggested that the organs of the Rwandan state are not independent and that the head of state unilaterally sanctions crucial decisions.
Unlike Kigali, he said that in Kenya, numerous procedures are followed, from formulation to policy implementation.
Setting the record clear, the PS in the Foreign Affairs Ministry explained that Kenya enjoyed ties with Rwanda for a time by virtue of belonging to the East African Community, suggesting Murkomen's sentiments were in his capacity but not representative of the government.
Sing'oei pointed out that Kenya recognises the strides made by Rwanda over the years; Kagame's leadership style is also admired, he said.
"Rwanda is a key brotherly Nation and the Head of State of Rwanda, H.E. Paul Kagame, is an iconic leader whose bold leadership is admired at home and abroad," said Sing'oei.
