Kisumu - Monica Adhiambo from Kisumu county had advised married women against overdepending on their husbands.

Adhiambo and his husband, Wilson Ondieki, have been earning a living by working as gravediggers and toilet cleaners for the past 18 years.

Speaking on NTV on Tuesday, December 27, Adhiambo, who has been doing manual work traditionally reserved for men, asked fellow women not to limit their job choices.

According to Adhiambo, wives should not just stay at home when there are no household items, yet they can get some income by doing men's work.

"Don't just sit at home, go out and work and you'll make money. If you sit at home waiting for your husband to feed you, you might end up quarreling. Sometimes there's no flour, no cooking oil, and yet you're just sitting there doing nothing," Adhiambo said.

Adhiambo, who currently can dig up to 20 fetes, said working with her husband has made her gain experience.

"Now I have gained experience. I like this job more because it enables me to earn a living. I use the money to pay school fees, buy food and clothes. These days, I don't borrow money from people," she explained.
