Kisumu - Luo Council of Elders Chairman Ker Odungi Randa's family has been hit with a double tragedy.
The towering Luo Ker has had to deal with the death of his second-born son, Stephen Milton Obote Randa, on Monday, December 25 2023, before his third-born son was involved in a near-death carnage.
Obote, 42, reportedly died while receiving treatment for poisoning at the Ahero Sub County Hospital after being rushed there. He was laid to rest on Tuesday, January 2.

His death came days after his father was inaugurated as the ninth Ker of the Luo community at an event at Ofafa Memorial Hall.
Odungi second son gets into an accident
Hours after the emotional send-off, Randa's son, Victor Randa, was involved in a road accident next to Boya Police Station.
Victor was rushed to Ahero Sub-County Hospital for treatment before being transferred to The Jaramogi Odinga Oginga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH).
Luo elders settle on Randa to replace Willis Otondi
In July, Randa was elected the ninth chairman of the Luo Council of Elders by a consensus in Homa Bay.
The position fell vacant following the demise of long-term chairman Willis Opiyo Otondi in February this year.
Adera Osawa (Migori), James Ayaga (Siaya) and Odungi Randa (Kisumu) were the frontrunners to take the seat, but after discussion among them, they endorsed Randa as the new chairman.
The council's leadership has been disputed over the years, with Ker Nyandiko Ongadi claiming leadership.
Ahead of the election, nine petitioners led by Ongadi filed the request under a certificate of urgency before Justice Daniel Ogembo.
Ogembo found the petition urgent before prohibiting the respondents in the petition from naming the new Ker Luo pending the inter parte hearing and determination of the application.
