"Our position now as government is to acknowledge that we have a challenge, not to lament anymore. but to acknowledge that we have a challenge and then we work our way out of that challenge going forward," he said.

The former ANC leader spoke on Saturday, December 16, at Kasarani's Indoor Arena, where he had graced the KUPPET Annual Delegates Conference And Silver Jubilee Celebrations.

Members of the National Executive have been on record accusing former president Uhuru Kenyatta of mismanaging the country, including critical infrastructure and facilities.

Uhuru Kenyatta blamed

For instance, Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen laid blame on Uhuru over the leaking roofs at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

The leaky roofs had subjected passengers queuing for flights to too much rain at the check-in.

Murkomen noted that when they took the oath of office, the situation mostly in the aviation sector was messy, so they had to make a temporary fix.

"When we got into the office, we found that the projects in the previous regime were substandard. The temporary renovation was done on Terminals 1C and E because there needed to be an in-field project, which was costly. But we have spoken to the contractors to redo the job," stated the CS.

Murkomen was speaking at Diani Airport in Mombasa on Tuesday, November 14.

The former senator acknowledged the damage the leakages had caused travellers, calling them to be patient as they work to improve infrastructure in the sector.

He said that President William Ruto had confirmed the delivery of a new terminal in less than three years with private contractors.

"We want to build a new terminal on the Greenfield side beginning in January so that in less than three years, it will be completed through partnerships with private firms," said Murkomen.
