Uasin Gishu - Christian apologist Reuben Kigame has taken issue with Kenyan politicians who only host their electorate during festivities.

Kigame was reacting to a post on X by @owobuya, who regretted that Kenyans thronged the homes of politicians in search of food.

"So SAD! So many Kenyans thronged the homes of politicians in search of food. I have never seen this before. ," @owobuya posted.

Kigame observed that if the citizens of a nation throng the homes of politicians for food, it means that those politicians have taken all the food.

"How do such people then where the title, Mheshimiwa? What dignity is there in reducing your people to beggars?" said Kigame.

Why Reuben Kigame failed to celebrate Christmas in 2023

The gospel singer further revealed that it has been very hard for him to celebrate Christmas in 2023.

"First, because every food bite reminds me of so many hungry Kenyans who cannot afford a meal due to careless government policies. Secondly, because Christmas has been canceled in its birthplace due to a useless war," Kigame said.

According to Kigame, to find one hungry person in Kenya is a crime because God has blessed the country with productive land and lots of water to grow food for consumption and export.

"We have professionals others would kill for. Cursed be anyone who overlooks the cry of the people and makes them beg for food," Kigame said.

Earlier, TUKO.co.ke reported that Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi hosted residents of Uasin Gishu county at his home for the Christmas celebrations.

The residents were mostly drawn from his Lemook village.

"Morning interaction with my neighbours Lemook village, Kapseret. Presenting them with Christmas gifts," Sudi posted on X.

How William Ruto dished out goodies to Kenyans

In another related story, TUKO.co.ke reported that President William Ruto was back at his rural Sugoi home for this year's Christmas celebrations.

As early as 4am, Kenyans drawn from Uasin Gishu and the neighbouring Kakamega and Nandi counties jammed roads as goodies were offloaded from several lorries.

The president actively participated in the exercise as he handed the residents packets of wheat flour, cooking oil, and rice in a yellow bag.

Ruto was accompanied by Mama Rachel Ruto, who kicked off the event with a powerful prayer.

Other leaders present at the event included Nairobi governor Johnson Sakaja and Uasin Gishu governor Jonathan Bii, among others.

What William Ruto told his Uasin Gishu visitors

Some residents explained that the head of state has been consistent in the exercise, but this year has attracted a huge following.

In his address, the head of state said his government would continue to reform the agricultural sector to increase food production.

Ruto claimed his latest reforms had resulted in a 40% increase in food production this year compared to 2022.

The president thanked farmers for taking advantage of the subsidised fertiliser, adding that the fruits of the programme would benefit the country's food security.
