TUKO.co.ke previously reported that the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) apprehended a senior Nairobi Water and Sewerage official for allegedly demanding a bribe of KSh 50,000 to absolve a water bill.

Why NAWASCO employee found himself in hot water

The official in question, identified as Jimna Kubia Maina, a supervisor at NAWASCO, found himself in the clutches of the law after attempting to manipulate a water supply reconnection by coercing an exorbitant sum from a concerned complainant.

The incident revolved around a residential building housing 17 units in Kahawa West, Nairobi county, which had been disconnected.

Reports indicated Maina had allegedly orchestrated the water supply disconnection under the pretext of an inflated and falsified water bill amounting to KSh 100,000.

The fabricated charges were attributed to a malfunctioning water meter, painting a portrait of financial exploitation and abuse of power.
