A Luo woman using the TikTok handle @ojukiawuor has left netizens ungovernable after opining that Meru men are richer than brothers from the lakeside.

Luos men versus Meru dudes' opulence

In a video on her TikTok page, Awuor was on an expansive farm as she marvelled at how Meru men were building mansions and driving luxurious cars in their villages.

Luos, in general, have been accustomed to posh life and luxurious lifestyles, with many associating their way of life with being rich.

Awuor also downplayed Luo men's opulence, saying there were new players in town who were not playing with their investments.

"My Luo brothers, sorry. The moments you guys used to have money os over. Bwana Merus have money like nonsense. The most executive cars are driven in the village. Range Rovers are the ones being driven around in the village in Meru. And the mansions they have built here. But a Luo only has a car in Nairobi, but when he goes to the village, he cannot even get to his home because there are no roads. Merus have money, let's not pretend," she said.

One netizen, Kanairwa, posted on X, saying:

"I hope I'm not too late with this #DeadCapital challenge. My humble hacienda in Sagana for those saying Kikuyus don't build back home. 6 years of blood, sweat and tears."

Kenyan comedian Oga Obinna sparked a debate after he advised Kenyans against building upcountry, arguing it was a waste of money.
