A Kenyan woman, Peace Loise, has called out Kenyans for victim blaming in the case of Pastor Kanyari's sister, Starlet Wahu.
What happened to Satrlet Wahu?
Starlet was brutally killed in an Airbnb apartment in the South B area by a man who, together, had booked a room on the night of Wednesday, January 3.
In a candid conversation with his congregants, Kanyari said that his sister's death was a heavy blow to his family, especially their mother, Prophetess Lucy Nduta, and called on Kenyans on social media to stop judging the dead harshly.

"My sister was single, and there was nothing wrong with her looking for a man like any other person would look for love. She met with him on social media, and they fell in love. We see that there were HIV test kits in the room, which means she did not trust the man.
There were also bottles of alcohol in the room, which means they also drank. There is nothing wrong with her drinking because she was not a born-again Christian. It is me who is born again, not her. It would make sense to raise concern if it was me who was caught drinking because I am a pastor, but my sister was not born again," the pastor told his congregation.
Why Kanyari was commended
A woman, Peace Loise, commended Pastor Kanyari for "preserving Starlet's dignity." She rebuked Kenyans for focusing on Starlet's lifestyle rather than her brutal murder.
Loise noted that she was surprised with how the public reacted to Starlet's murder and spun it to shame her.
"I just watched the video of Kanyari talking about what happened to the sister, and first of all, I commend him for being so open about it. He did not deny anything. He narrated everything that happened and said the sister did not do anything wrong because the way people have reacted it's like wanting to have s** for money is worse than murder. Yet this person had the intention of harming this young woman from the beginning. Not only did he harm her, he has done that to several other people.
If you have doubts that society sees women differently than they see men, that their lives are not as worthy as those of men, then this is the example. If roles were reversed, this is not the reaction the public would have had if this man was murdered by a woman... if we are still shaming women in 2024, we still have a long way to go."
Starlet Wahu's best friend mourns her
Wahu's best friend, Soila, shared photos and videos from their vacations and partying lifestyle, reminiscing about the great time they spent together.
"My forever third wheeler, to everywhere I went," she captioned one of the videos of Wahu driving her in her flashy car.
The mother of one penned emotional messages to Wahu, describing her as a great friend.
"I don't know what I will do without you. You are my favourite person on the planet," she captioned another video.
In another video, the two socialites were partying and popping bottles as they jammed to their favourite tunes at a popular city club.
"2018-2024, I loved you the same," she said.
