A Texas farmer riding a lawn mower behind her property was shocked when a black snake fell onto her arm out of the blue, clutched her arm, and wouldn't let go.
Peggy's husband didn't hear her screams
“I immediately began thrusting my arm, trying to knock the snake off,” Peggy Jones said.
“And as I thrust my arm, the snake just wrapped around my arm – and he started striking at my face," she told CNN.

Just as she grappled with a terrifying crisis, a brown and white hawk swooped down and tried to clench the snake.
Although the 64-year-old screamed and cried for help, her husband, Wendell, couldn't hear her as her tractor kept rolling, and he was also mowing at the front of the property.
The sound of his tractor and the traffic on the nearby highway filled the space between them, and that’s how Peggy said she knew she was alone.
Hawk and snake fight on Peggy's arm
Meanwhile, the snake's grip was so tight that when the hawk grabbed it, Peggy’s entire arm jerked up in the air with the attempt.
It tried several times, with its wings flapping in her face with each try, distorting her view of what was happening right in front of her.
The scene was chaotic as the tractor kept going while the two animals fought viciously on Peggy's arm.
Four times, the hawk dove bobbed at its prize – and at Peggy – before it finally scooped up the reptile and flew off, she said.
When she looked down, her right arm was covered in blood, claw marks, lacerations, cuts and punctures.
Wendell awed by Peggy's strength
“If you’ve ever cut yourself, think about 10 times that pain,” Peggy said.
“It’s a pain you can’t describe.… It was beyond anything I had ever experienced," she continued.
Finally, Wendell heard her screams and took her to the hospital. The doctors gave her antibiotics and instructions to continue them at home.
“This is the toughest young lady I’ve ever met in my life, doesn’t worry about pain. She thinks she can do everything, and she pretty much can do everything, so I have to try and keep her slowed down because she’s blow and go," he said.
“I consider myself to be pretty tough. I’m a survivor," said Peggy.
