Uasin Gishu - The now infamous Uasin Gishu Education Oversees Scholarship Programme continues to elicit mixed reactions among Kenyans.
Pressure has been piling up on area Governor Jonathan Bii and Senator Jackson Mandago to refund students' scholarship money which runs into millions of shillings.
And now, the Interparty Youth Forum has also made its voice heard on the issue.
In a statement seen by TUKO.co.ke, Interparty Youth Forum Secretary-General Advice Mundalo said the organisation's attention had been drawn to the Uasin Gishu scholarship saga that has seen students, parents, and guardians cry out for help due to the loss of funds they dearly looked for in the hope of an opportunity to better their lives abroad.

"It is our position that the leaders of the county move with speed to sort out the tribulations of these young leaders whose only mistake was to trust the word and guide of their leaders which essentially should be the right thing to do," Mundalo said.
What Advice Mundalo wants done
According to Mundalo, the organisation doesn't wish to imagine that leaders could participate in fraud of their people.
"And as such call upon the leaders to expedite the process of solving this crisis by either availing the opportunities promised or quickly refunding the monies of these innocent yet visionary young people," the SG added.
Mundalo further said the Interparty Youth Forum is cognisant that a leader's good plans can fail to see the light of day as envisaged in a programme.
"To that end, we ask the leadership to own up to the pitfalls that may have come with the plan and refund the young people to continue pursuing their dreams and aspirations," said Mundalo.
How Mercy Tarus is surviving
In a related story, TUKO.co.ke reported that Mercy Tarus unveiled her second job, apart from selling porridge and mandazis to make money.
The university graduate who confronted Uasin Gishu County leaders over the Finland scholarship scandal said she works hard to earn a living.
Tarus showcased her hairdressing skills in a TikTok video, saying it is part of what she does to make money, which the leaders she elected have squandered.
She maintained her push for refunding her hard-earned money, saying she does not regret calling out the county leaders.
