Embu - Former Nigerian president Goodluck Jonathan has been the talk of the town after secretly flying to Kenya to attend his nephew's wedding.

1. Love wins: Nigeria weds Kenya

Goodluck's nephew Barrister Jude Rex-Ogbuku and his Kenyan wife, Joy Wanjiru Nyaga, tied the knot in a colourful traditional ceremony held at Izaak Walton Hotel in Embu town.

2. Jonathan Goodluck's heroic welcome

Goodluck wore a black kaftan suit, black hat and matching shoes.

The former head of state was welcomed by song and dance to the venue as he was accompanied by his few relatives and a group of Embu elders led by former Runyenjes MP, Njeru Kathungu.

3. Private wedding

The flashy wedding was not publicly advertised, and according to locals of Embu, they were surprised to see the former Nigerian president land in their town.

The wedding was attended by family members from Kenya and Nigeria and only a few friends.

4. Family affair

The couple's four sons were present at the event and stunned with matching white outfits.

The young men were all smiles as they posed for photos with their parents after tying the knot.

5. Newlyweds stun in stylish outfits

Nigerians are known for going out when it comes to weddings, and the couple spent a lot of their stylish outfits. The lovebirds settled for two different outfits for their wedding.

The first outfit was blue. Jude wore a long emerald blue coat, white shirt matching trousers, shoes and hat, while Wanjiru wore a long blue gown with a touch of gold.

For their wedding reception, the lovebirds wore matching brown outfits and looked gorgeous in them.

6. Goodluck Jonathan shares dance with newlyweds

After exchanging vows, Goodluck shared a dance with the couple, before blessing them.

Taking to Twitter, the veteran politician wished the couple well in their marriage and shared some of the photos from the flashy wedding.

"I wish the couple a successful and happy marriage," he said.

7. Kenyans react to Goodluck's nephew's wedding

Photos of the lovebirds' wedding were shared on social media by people who had a chance to witness them say 'Yes, I do."

A section of Kenyans congratulated the newlyweds on their nuptials, but others wondered why of late, women had chosen to go the Nigerian way and not settle with fellow Kenyan men.

Gladys Shollei weds Mzungu partner

A few days ago, TUKO.co.ke reported that Uasin Gishu woman representative Gladys Shollei tied the knot on August 7 with her Mzungu man, Neil Horn.

The lovebirds' private wedding was held at an undisclosed place and was attended by family members and close friends.

The politician, who is also the Speaker of the National Assembly, got married for the second time after divorcing her first husband, Sam Shollei.

After exchanging vows, Shollei and Neil join their guests in song and dance. At the wedding reception, the lovebirds walked by each other's side and even shared a cute dance as guests sang and cheered.
