The family of Veronica Nyamisa can breathe a sigh of relief after she reached out to them days after the family raised concerns over her incommunicado status since leaving for Saudi Arabia.
Family elated after kin in Saudi Arabia contacts them
Veronica's brother, Brian Nyakundi, confirmed that she contacted their father, assuring them of her safety.
According to Nyakundi, who spoke to TUKO.co.ke, Veronica explained that her prolonged silence was due to challenges accessing airtime for phone calls.

Additionally, she revealed that she had no access to Wi-Fi where she worked, making it even more difficult for her to contact her family via the internet.
"She said credit ndo shida coz lazima aeke credit ya pesa mingi ndo iingie...kwanza alitumia namba ya uko Saudi (She said the main problem is getting airtime because she has to buy more credit for her to call home... she called using a Saudi Arabia number)," Brian stated.
He further explained that Veronica had been unable to access the internet since her departure from Kenya, thus explaining her absence from online platforms such as Facebook and Whatsapp.
Veronica lacks access to airtime and internet
This lack of connectivity had made it nearly impossible for her to keep in touch with her family during her stay in Saudi Arabia.
The news of Veronica's well-being relieved her family, who had been living in immense distress since her sudden departure and silence.
"I heard dad saying that they have been communicating with the agent, so I think it's her agent who told her about our concerns ndo akapiga (that's when she called)," said Brian.
TUKO.co.ke had earlier highlighted Veronica's family's anxieties and uncertainty over her whereabouts.
Veronica fails to contact family after leaving for Saudi Arabia
She left for Saudi Arabia in January 2023 due to financial struggles, leaving her young child in the care of her family.
The family's attempts to establish communication with her had been frustrated, with only sporadic "please call me" messages being sent to her father, without any verbal response.
The lack of contact numbers and uncertainty about the agency or agent she used to travel to Saudi Arabia had hampered their efforts to find her.
Veronica's decision to seek better employment opportunities in Saudi Arabia to support her child was finalised in December, following a brief stint as a housegirl in Nairobi.
The family had been appealing to the public and relevant authorities for help locating Veronica and ensuring her safety.
