Pastor Ezekiel Odero's church deregistered
In another matter involving Newlife Prayer Centre Pastor Ezekiel Odero, Omari and his counterparts Cliff Ombeta and Shadrack Wambui traveled to fellowship in his Mavueni-based church to prove that there was nothing fishy happening there.
He accused the state of being jealous of Odero because he was doing better in addressing people's needs than those elected for this purpose were doing.
TUKO.co.ke established that Pastor Ezekiel's church was deregistered in a report published on Friday, August 18.
On Thursday, August 17, Omari was in his element defending his client Daniel Wambua, a junior accountant at Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA).
Wambua's account was frozen following an application by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
Danstan Omari in KSh 21.2 million dowry case
The ant-graft agency told the court that it was suspicious Wambua was part of a money laundering scandal as his income did not match the savings in his account amounting to KSh 21.2 million, by the time the freezing orders were issued.
Wambua told the court that he earns KSh 170,000 gross pay and slightly above KSh 61,000 as net pay and that the millions in his account were from a fundraiser for dowry.
Omari vehemently defended the explanation, saying that the KSh 21.2 million that had increased to KSh 26 million in his client's account was raised by well-wishers supporting Wambua's dowry payment plans.
Beautiful Kamba lady
"Over 950 friends of my client raised that money through fundraisers in a WhatsApp group. The WhatsApp was opened in May 2023 and contributions continued until July. My client spotted a beautiful, there was intense competition for the lady and he won.
"Thereafter there were plans to pay dowry and my client began raising the money. It is the jilted lovers who lost the battle for the beautiful lady that told EACC that he was involved in illegal deals. The EACC's mandate does not include addressing jilted lovers' cases and it should be disbanded," Omari told the press after filing the application opposing EACC's move.
It was this line of defense that got many Kenyans talking about the boldness of Omari to stand in for his client as they thought the explanation was outrageous.
"You just need an Omari in your life," Nyanchera Okonu said in response to a video of Omari addressing the issue that was shared on TikTok.
Another Kenyan, Maureen said she would be glad to see the lady who attracts a dowry of over KSh 20 million.
"I want to see this Kamba lady, I think my parent wants to take a lower amount, I refuse...all kamba gals this is our baseline on our dowry," said Maureen.
"One of the best lawyers in Kenya," Ugandan General weighed in on the discussion.
Connie said that she would not doubt anything the client was saying if Omari was the lawyer on record.
"Aki being a lawyer is an interesting intriguing professional. It's all about how you present the case," Millie Balozi said.
Omari has also been instrumental in defending Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance Party affiliated politicians and supporters that have been arraigned for different reasons.
During his defense of Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga's diehard fanatic, Omari said that Baba, a nickname for Raila was universal as there are billions of fathers globally. Baba is a Kiswahili word for father.
He said that his client's utterances asking Baba to bring guns could not be contextualised to mean Raila Odinga alone.
