A courageous young woman in Kenya has captured the admiration of many for fearlessly confronting Uasin Gishu senator Jackson Mandago over the controversial scholarships to Finland.

The initiative, which was introduced during Mandago's tenure as governor, has sparked outrage among parents and students who have yet to see the promised opportunities materialise.

In an effort to address the growing concerns and discontent, Governor Jonathan Bii convened a meeting to address the issue head-on.

Governor Bii links Mandago to scholarship scam

Previously, Bii linked the scheme to his predecessor, Mandago.

Speaking to journalists, the county chief said that when he assumed office in August 2022, he took an oath to protect the best interests of the people of Uasin Gishu.

"I received a petition from the parents to look into the overseas training programme that was ongoing. I initially addressed this matter internally. However, the preliminary report that I received indicated that this programme was managed by an independent trust known as Uasin Gishu Overseas Education Trust and not the county government," Bii explained.
