Nairobi - On Thursday, August 17, Leader of Majority in the National Assembly Kimani Ichung'wah took to the floor of the House to apologise to Kenyan sportsmen and women for the inadequacies they experience in their interactions with the sports ministry officials.
Ichung'wah, who was apologising on behalf of the government, observed that the commitment and sacrifices sportsmen and sportswomen make for the honour of wearing the country's national colours should be met with an equally high level of respect, support, and appreciation from all relevant authorities.
Against this backdrop, Ichung'wah fired warning shots at Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba and other CSs who don't live up to their expectations.
"Ababu Namwamba should tell Kenyans why he lacks the time to attend to the people who are representing our country and are good ambassadors of our country. Because this is his biggest responsibility," Ichung'wah said.

What Kimani Ichung'wah told CSs
Ichung'wah further observed that MPs as the people's representatives, and so they must hold ministers to account.
"You were not appointed a minister in this country to fly flags in the streets and push other motorists as you bulldoze yourself through traffic with Subaru escorts. You were made a minister to serve the people. And if you were made the minister of Sports you must serve the sportsmen and women of our country," Ichung'wah added.
The Kikuyu MP said sportsmen and women are the best ambassadors who represent Kenya on the international podium.
"You can imagine, the great feeling we all get when these athletes are competing out there and they are winning medals for us. We all come together as Kenyans and the highest representation we should see in those stadia is for our ministers not carrying joyriders on trips aboard to accompany them and doing nothing but we must see them here receiving our number one ambassadors around the world," Ichung'wah said while calling out Namwamba.
Why Ichung'wah wants Namwamba in Parliament
Ichung'wah vowed to take the minister on account of his time.
"And he (Namwamba) must appear before this House to tell us why he could not afford time not just for these athletes but even for others," he added.
Ichung'wah further said:
"I heard the president the other day saying that people are serving, in government who he knows more about their departments, and agencies in their ministries than they do, let them know that a notice has been served by none other than the president and we shall pick the queue from there and it shall not be business as usual."
Why some CSs, PSs angered Ruto
TUKO.co.ke previously reported that President William Ruto expressed anger over Cabinet Secretaries (CSs) and Principal Secretaries (PSs) who do not understand their job.
Ruto advised the head of ministries and state departments to read widely and extensively about their jobs so that they can be able to advise him.
The head of state, who spoke during the Performance Contract Signing event at State House Nairobi on Tuesday, August 1, revealed many officers he has spoken to have scanty information.
