Nairobi - The Kenya Revenue Authority's (KRA) social media handler took on a Kenyan Twitter user who took to the platform to claim the tax man was running after him for evading tax.

Calling himself @Keam 254 on the platform, the man shared a screenshot of a grammatically flowed tweet purported to have been sent by the KRA.

In the tweet, the taxman asks him to avail himself at any of their offices after it was established that he partakes in fraudulent activities.

"Social influencer @Kea 254, kindly avail yourself in our headquarters or any other KRA office near you in the next 24hrs, we have established a bank account under your national ID been engaging in fraudulent activites(sic) including tax evation (sic),"

KRA flags tweet as fake

Not the one to see their brand being abused, a KRA social media manager came out quickly to clarify things.

The tweet was flagged as fake, with the agency asking the said man to up his Photoshopping skills.

"Your Photoshop skills need some sharpening."

KRA is not new to engaging social media users in jest and hilarious banters.

KRA's hilarious quote tweet

The agency is ever busy on social media tracking tax evaders who display lavish lifestyles but file nil returns.

The tax collector's online presence always brings about some comic relief as they tackle inquiries, inboxes, and funny replies from the formidable Kenyan netizens.

Recently, another Twitter user identified as Mwago Capital posted a picture of an old-school TV set with the screen written, "KRA TV, lipa ama tunakam kuchukuwa TV yako. (Pay or we are coming to pick you TV)".

The message was in tandem with KRA's dates for Kenyans to file their returns and hints at the organisation's chain of instruction as it prepares to ask Kenyans to pay their taxes.

Perhaps lost for words, the taxman only said "who runs this account, Murife?"
